Florida Highway Sign Hacked To Say Arrest Fauci And Covid Was A Hoax

A Miami-Dade highway sign was hacked early Tuesday morning to display words demanding the arrest of President Joe Biden’s Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci.

The sign, which sat on Florida State Road 836, featured the phrases “Arrest Fauci,” “COVID Was A Hoax,” and “vaccines kill,” according to footage taken by a motorist. Hours later, city officials turned off the sign after becoming aware of the mishap, according to NBC Miami.

The Miami-Dade Expressway Authority and the Miami-Dade Police Department did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s requests for comment.

Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has faced sharp backlash in recent weeks after a trove of his emails were made public through Freedom of Information Act requests by the Washington Post and Buzzfeed. Previously unseen correspondence between the health authority and top figures throughout the country appeared to show Fauci contradicting guidance on face masks and downplaying the theory that the coronavirus emerged from a lab in Wuhan, China.

In one April 2020 exchange, Peter Daszak, the president of EcoHealth Alliance, a research group that secured a grant to perform coronavirus research in Wuhan before the pandemic, wrote to Fauci “to say a personal thank you on behalf of our staff and collaborators” after Fauci dismissed the idea that the pandemic started due to a lab accident in Wuhan.

Fauci replied to the email, which came on April 18, 2020, to thank Daszak for his “kind note.” Earlier that day, Fauci was asked directly about the lab leak hypothesis during a coronavirus briefing, to which he said the scientific evidence “is totally consistent with a jump of a species from an animal to a human.”

Fauci was also seen questioning whether masks “were really effective” at stemming the spread of the virus in February.

“Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading [an] infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection,” the medical adviser wrote at the time.

“The typical mask you buy in the drug store is not really effective in keeping out [the] virus, which is small enough to pass through the material. It might, however, provide some slight benefit in [keeping] out gross droplets if someone coughs or sneezes on you,” he added.
